Ava is a senior Journalism and Plan II student with a minor in Public Policy at the University of Texas at Austin. She is originally from Dallas, Texas. During her time in Austin, Ava’s work and studies have focused on reform and justice within the criminal legal system. She wrote her Plan II thesis on reentry and employment for incarcerated emerging adults in Texas, and has focused many of her UT journalism stories on juvenile justice issues on a local level.Outside of the classroom, Ava likes to spend time outside near the lake, at home playing with her cat Luna, and improving her oil painting and baking.
